Ibiza legend and and all round top geezer ALEX P will be bringing a new flavour to the decks in the form of a ‘Tech House’ set – Tech house has always been Alex’s favoured genre and now he gets to let rip with the Table manners boys Andy Guest, Aaron Austin, Sean Russell and guest Dj Dave E-J & Smartie Parties very own Pete Dee.

This is not a night to be missed and will be a regular party happening on the last Friday of every month, Boat Parties from April and taking over the White Island in the summer months.

Doors open at 10pm and runs right through to 6am. Tickets are only £7 and guest list spots are available for the early birds who get in there first on the Facebook page.

Table Manners is London’s newest and most up and coming cutting edge night and one to be experienced – Once you’ve been to one you’ll never miss another!

BeatFox – Top Class Human Beat Box

I witnessed the future.

Recently in Camden, London NW1 we have been treated to a fine selection of what I would describe as very talented ‘Human  Synths’, as just calling them ‘Human Beat Boxes’ dont do their advanced styles justice.

It would be very nice to see one performing at a London warehouse party. I will either film them on a good quality camera or see if they have a MP3 file to donate to this site. Until then please enjoy this video of the talented BeatFox.

If you check out his homepage, the featured video shows the filth* hassling him. Being ‘Ruff’ must be a crime in London these days…

*UK slang for ‘police’.

Octo Octa - Brooklyn based House music producerBrooklyn based House music producer Octo Octa is Michael Bouldry-Morrison.

His distinct brand of deep and emotional House music has an Old Skool vibe with a modern twist.

His polished production and DJ skills have propelled him to the vanguard of the House-not-House scene. He has rightly earned widespread critical acclaim in Electronic Dance music and indie-minded musical circles.

His DJ sets I have heard are top class and the mixing is seamless. Check out his Soundcloud page and then buy a track at iTunes..

His 2011 debut EP “Let Me See You” on the 100% Silk label was a success. This lead to three further releases for the label; ʻRough, Rugged, and Raw,ʼ ʻOh Love,ʼ and then a collaboration with the talented Amanda Brown, the ʻLA Vampires by Octo Octaʼ release “Freedom 2K.”

Octo Octa was recently selected as a participant for the acclaimed Red Bull Music Academy 2012 and he has a US and European tour planned for spring 2013. With both a new EP and LP in the works, Octo Octaʼs ascent is now imminent.

There is an outstanding assortment of oldskool House DJ mixes ranging from Chicago House, NYC Disco to Acid House.  Many of the DJ mixes include track listings and you can even join the mailing list for the SOCIETY parties.

SOCIETY’s first event in London was in early 2011, they took over a 19th century ironworks warehouse and transformed it into a one off all-nighter unlike anything seen since way back in 1990.

CJ Mackintosh – One of the UK’s finest DJ’s for nearly 30 years.

CJ MackintoshI included this old video of DJ CJ Mackintosh scratching to show the fact he is a pioneer of the UK Hip Hop scene, infact the UK Dance music scene. Back in 1987, when I was 13, CJ Mackintosh made a name for himself by winning the UK ‘DMC Mix Championship’ title.

As expected, his House music mixes are amongst the best available. If you love House music, and you get a chance to hear him, CJ Mackintosh should be heard playing out in a club atleast once before you grow old. The video below is ‘Live at the Ministry Of Sound (1994)’.

Money In The Bank

In September 1987 he had success with the still excellent sounding Pump Up The Volume by M/A/R/R/S. This early Mash-up of samples topped the UK charts and then in 1988 it charted in the USA. This lead to me insisting my mother buy me an Amiga so I could learn to make sample loops. I am sure many others were switched on to what samplers would do from this track.

But They Want To Dance

Back in 1987 radio stations like Radio One gave the Dance scene no support and most DJ’s used to slag it off. It was down to the hard work of people like CJ Mackintosh, Tim Westwood and the two DJ’s featured in 1987 video below : Dave Pearce and Roger Johnson to get the new cuts played to the masses on the FM airwaves.
